Baobab Health Trust is an not-for-profit making organization, aimed at leading the improvement of health care through Information and Communication Technology in the developing world. We are doing so, by working closely together with the Ministry of Health in Malawi. At the core of our system is a clinical touchscreen appliance that provides assistance to nurses and clinicians as they treat their patients. The touchscreen application guides health care workers through treatment protocol and simultaneously collects data that is needed by the Ministry of Health. Baobab Health Trust is inviting applications from suitably qualified, motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic individuals of Malawi origin to fill the positions on Short -Term Renewable Contracts as follows;

Basic function of the job:

As a Data entry clerk, you will be responsible for entering data from paper-based patient records into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems in a timely manner whilst ensuring accuracy of the data. The incumbent shall report to the Deployment and Support Officers in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities;

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Enter data in the BART system. Ensuring accuracy of data such as Patient demographics, visits, through reviewing and making corrections.

  2. Keeps track of received data and source documents. Prepares and sorts documents, and interprets and identifies data to be entered.

  3. Contacts supervisors, preparers of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies or missing data. Confirms accuracy of data such as patient name, number etc, and compares data entered with source documents.

  4. Process various forms. Inputing data such as patient information. Data cleaning

  5. Generate reports and responds to inquiries regarding entered data as required

  6. Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required

  7. Maintains confidentiality of patient information

  8. Any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, experience and key competencies required:

  1. Completion of Secondary education is a must. Those with a Computing or Secretarial qualification will have an added advantage

  2. Ability to enter Data with accuracy and speed

  3. Ability to maintain confidentiality is a must

  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  5. Strong team player

  6. Carry out multiple task and meet daily targets

  7. Experience in Linux / ubuntu will be an added advantage

  8. Ready to work in remote areas
